NIACUS Chairman Joy Muir commented, Obviously I am delighted that we have 5 of our umpires selected for the ICC European Panels. Those who are appointed will gain invaluable experience as well as having wonderful opportunities to officiate all over Europe and possibly beyond in the future. They will be able to pass on their increased knowledge to their colleagues through our training courses and monthly meetings, which can only be good for umpiring in the NCU area. This should also be a great encouragement to new and up and coming umpires when they see what heights can be achieved outside the local game. We hope it will also encourage players to consider taking up umpiring - some might be able to get further through umpiring than they ever did through playing! Our Executive Committee sends congratulations to all five who have been selected”.
