jimmy i heard that strydom is going to glendermott for 17,000!
Bad luck Donemana and well done Leinster for winning the ISC and the Hills for staging it so well. As usual Donemana travelled with a big following but can anyone who was there care to comment on the can throwing incident? Nobody can blame a club for some of the spectators it attracts but incidents at Donemana matches appear more often than with anyone else. Maybe the club should make a statement and distance itself from them?
Re Paul Robinson. Thanks for that kind comment. The relationship with Woodvale goes back as long as I can remember. To the days of Billy Boyd and Ian Gourley trying to outwit each other on the pitch and then" being very sociable "in the bar afterwards. We are lucky that Moylena can normally deal with the bad weather better than most grounds and that James Craig and Bily Johnstone are real cricket men who put the good of the game before club issues.
That's the way I and everyone at Muckamore was brought up to respect the game and it saddens me to see so many off field issues creeping in to the game.Fingers crossed there's not another "Connelgate " on the horizon. Play Hard.Take your medicine.Party Hard. Then get back to work on a Monday morning.
Interested observer - if you have a point to make why not put your name to it? Are you suggesting the rules have been broken? The year of Connell-gate the NCU overturned all results where Pete was "deemed" to be ineligible. The team you I suspect you are talking about won against both Instonians and North Down in the league this season. Surely we are not on the verge of another controversial end of season?
Any truth in the rumour there is going to be a mass exodus at lisburn? Strydom and van der merwe to ciyms, the ervines gone and the simpsons looking out!
I will be interested to see if the current leader in the Allrounder stats in the NCU will be here to collect his award at the NCU dinner? Surely he is a local so I guess he will.
Proposal - should be 110days before the season and 60 days after the season??
As I am sure most people have noticed, our last 2 home games have not been played at Ballygomartin Road due to the adverse weather. Gratefully both Muckamore and Instonians have hosted us in Match 2 situations, a special word of thanks to Jimmy and Billy at Muckamore and Andy Rose at Inst who made every effort to get the games played.
It's nice to see in this day and age that clubs are prepared to help each other out.
i am glad lurgan are back up. its always good banter! I would like to congradulate roy harrison. He is a true great and not only an influence on me but everybody else at waringstown!
Now Gerry don't want to go on again about our 'Pro' and legendary fasst bowler, Gerald Johnston. People may think I talk to much about him ! But since you mentioned it.
Yes I will admitt he did at one time play for Lurgan C.C.but that was in the early 50's were he learned his trade as a young teenager bowling, fast, true and straight.
But then in 1956 he switched to Victoria and became the legend that he is now, come over to the 'Cloney' tomorrow and u may see him in action for our seconds.
dyslexic? - maybe some guys don't do ironic!! heading out now but great to see the much vaunted English attack bowling for runouts in the 1st innings.
Hi Vic does Gerry "The Pro " still tell the story of taking 9 wkts at The Lawn
many moons ago ?? when was that ? what team was he playing for ??
I see your back again Gerry !
Was that Paul Collingwood's lawn you were over mowing, did you do a bit of weeding as well when you were there !
Was wondering who you are, since no photograph has been forthcoming and now I hear talk of you praising Lurgan on their promotion back to the Premier league.
My suspicious mind tells me your alot closer to my doorstep, than Andy's out in sunny Buckna !
You seem well informed on the inner goings on at Victoria C.C. I think you are a spy from Lurgan C.C. and your trying to poach are Pro and legendary fast bowler Gerald,to strenghen your team for next season !
Let me tell you Mr Mallin, not for all the tea and buns in China will he ever leave his beloved Victoria Cricket Club.
Why don't you go and ask your friend Paul Collingwood, maybe he might like the new pitch at Pollock Park! (Although I doubt it !!!).
Andy are you stupid ? Just accept the fact that England won & forget about all this ranting & whinging of what was said by this one & that one, be gracious in defeat !!! just say well done England ! is it that hard ?? Hope you have a nice day at Comber maybe i will see you there !!
Is that not 'dyslexically' Andy or are you suffering from dyspraxia.
Leading on from your comments. I think Ireland should press for ODI's in England, test themselves against good opposition on good tracks as a unit. Okay some players are already playing there regularly but as a whole, I think they could benefit from touring England with the county players in their ranks.
to "English contingent" Please accept my sympathy - cricket is, like all things, to be taken in perspective when set against more serious matters. The point that I was making was that Mr. Collingwood and his 2nd string team were, as a guest, less than gracious in their comments and the article in Cricket Europe, to me, summed it up. It is interesting to note that when Australia played Scotland the next day this was the 30th-odd time that this fixture has taken place. England, on the other hand, have play Scotland once. I recall Mark Taylor's side playing at Eglinton some years ago shortly after a Test match and they broughtover an almost full side. Perhaps we would like England a bit more if they didn't shoot themselves in the foot so often.
As for "Gerry" - don't understand that point that he's trying to make - seems to be the only guy I know who can write dyslexic!
