as a section 3 player yeates is definately the quickest i have seen and that includes watching a few premier league games. When you see the keeper standing yards from the boundary thats when you know you are in trouble!
good call Rodney......Andy Bassett is a very good bowler who not only can bowl quick but is very accurate too. aint seen him bowl yet this year but the scorecards never lie and he has taken a bag of wickets. i still think Yeates might be a bit quicker, especially on the harder wickets at Saintfield. dont think Andy enjoyed bowling at me last year at Saintfield but he still pushed the ball through very quick coming up the hill and bowled very well to get 5 wickets that day.
RE Quick Bowlers
It depends what we class as quick but I would have to say that Andy Bassett has been not only the quickest I've seen this year but also the best which is ironic because Lee Connor was the best quick bowler in the section last year but has been injured this year. It would be interesting to compare speeds as I dont think McKenna or Gill would be as quick as Bassett (only my opinion as I faced Gill on Saturday and havent seen McKenna bowl in a while). Another guy that has caught my eye has been Craig Drummond from Muckamore. He is deceptively quicker than he looks and is still very young.
Robin, it was Bangor we played at the Green, not Derriaghy.
Robin we had no issue with playing a game on Saturday. The only player missing was Tony Adams who was away on his brothers stag do, if you think that was the real reason we called it off. Cheers for calling me a liar too!
hughsey
i certainly do remember ci saying last year that yous would travel to comber if we let yous play derriaghy at comber a few days later
bit of a gun to the head situation
but enough from me on the subject
roger bell
absolutely correct roger peter took s hughes word terrible thing thinking someone is telling you the truth over the phone isnt it
simple solution if they dont want to play cricket on one of the best saturdays of the season dont enter the league
While, having spoken to several North Down players on Saturday, it would appear thet CIYMS were premature in calling Saturday's match off, under Competition Rule 20b where umpires have been appointed a decision to call off a game in advance of the scheduled starting time can only have been made with the agreement of BOTH clubs. If such an agreement cannot be reached, then both teams turn up at the appointed time, and the umpires make the decision on whether the ground is playable or not.
We had a similar situation with the Bangor v Instonians match earlier in the season. If they have any doubt the visiting team should insist on travelling, and they have no comeback if they do not exercise this right.
Robin, if you saw the state of the square and outfield on Thursday and Friday following the heavy rain there was no chance of playing a proper game of cricket on Saturday, which was the same on Sunday even playing on the mat! I would have thought the extra days rest before the Senior Cup semi final on Sunday and not having to play a game which would have been played in worse conditions than your first game of the season against Lisburn would have been more beneficial to yourselves! With regards last year, you have forgotten very quickly that we reversed our home fixture to play yourselves at the Green, as if we hadn't it would have been a no result and CSNI would have won the league! Hopefully that fox gets lost in the long grass!!

Dunno if you have seen Mark Yeates or not? plays for Saintfield. he can bowl very sharpish and on his day can trouble most batsmen. when he gets it spot on he can be impossible to play. Ross Boultwood has also returned to Saintfield and is another very good quick bowler for the future. i think both lads are still under the age of 20
re s hughes
looks were not deceiving uncovered wicket was super only reason the covered wicket was damp because no one was there to take covers off and let the sun do its work
hope yous had a good stag do on friday
i suppose thats the thanks u get for ndcc lending u the ground last year for a game against derriaghy at the end of last season
long runs the fox
