Vic Yes indeed they did. Rugby, football, tennis, snooker, that 'American rounders' game and the best of them all - Bob-Sleigh believe it or not! Good to see you removing the Irish Flag from your eyes and seeing the good in England. See you later this year during a game if you're lucky.
Jim,
I could'nt have put it better myself !
Although have to say,as it can't be Ireland,I'll be supporting England now.
Have to admit they've played really well these last few matches and I hope they can lift the T20 world-cup.
What about an England-v-Australia final that would be good with England to stuff the 'kangeroo-men' !
Anyway,I'll always have a soft spot for England ! Did'nt they invent the game of cricket after-all !!
Vic I suppose Ireland, by your reckoning, should be in the T20 Final? After all, they were giving England a good thrashing when the rain saved England! Broad was superb last night, again in your reckoning I suppose Boyd Rankin should be holding that MOTM trophy? LOL
Clarence,
Seeing the photo of Mark Harper brought back a funny memory of one of his first games v. North Down.
Ian Shields played his textbook forward defensive shot killed the ball stone dead at his feet, then in hockey fashion flicked the ball with the bat up into his hands and tossed it to the bowler.
Like a Tasmanian devil Mark Harper came racing in from the boundary screaming an appeal 'howszat! he hit de ball twice man howszat!'
Great embarrassment all around.
Umpire asked Doc Martin if he wished the appeal to be upheld. A firm no was the reply and at some stage later a quiet word was had in the ear of Mark Harper. Pantomime stuff!!
Big T/20 match last nite,
No...not the one out in the Caribbean but down at Lurgan Park, Victoria 2nds-v-3rds.
For a bit of fun really, but I have to say with the younger players really taking it seriously and trying to outplay eachother,it's a great way of getting everyone new to the game involved and enjoying themselves.
Well done to Greg & Matty for some constructive innovation and great to see even more new faces getting involved. Super stuff !
Although Duckley did his usual show and threw 'the stump' out of 'the pram' just because his team got beat.
Some things never change!!!!!
Clarence - the "feature" on Roger Harper reminds me of one hot Saturday afternoon at Comber when Woodvale were the visitors. Coming down from the top pitch and seeing Roger nearly cutting Rossie in two with a bullet return which was missed at the bowler's end. As you rightly say matches come & go, etc."
GRAHAM CUP
Please note that the results of all GC matches should be submitted by the Match Secretary of the WINNING TEAM, as per the regulations printed on the NCU website. Unfortunately the handbook indicates that this should be done by the home team - the latter is incorrect. Apologies for any misunderstanding, and I look forward to receiving some results - soon - please!
RE- Andy Kennedy
Well said Andy...anyone with a bit of witt completely understood your posting, no apology needed.
Matt, show a bit of savvy mate...!
Oh dear...look what I've started!
total misunderstanding by Matt. I was simply quoting the radio broadcast of the T/20 game on Radio 4 LW on my way back from Waringstown on Saturday evening - the gist of the conversation was around a remark by one of the commentators asking "where do some England players stay when on tour in S.A.? At home with their families!" The comments about former England teams containing West Indians followed. As for Matt's comments - I never regarded myself as "small-minded" but maybe that's for others to decide or perhaps Matt is like many others just waiting to be "offended"! Maybe he doesn't do irony!
r.e A.Kennedy "west Indian" comment
Totally out of order..... small minded attitudes like this are usually reserved for the English media when reporting on Ireland cricket matches while ignoring their own teams heritage
re L.P.R. - listening to radio commentary on Sat evening - one of the commentators was referring to the number of "foreign" players currently on the England side and he reminded of the time when W. Indians such as Gladstone Small, Norman Cowans & Phil De Freitas were included.
P.S. - what about Michael Foster's stupendous catch at The Lawn on Sat? Really remarkable
I'll go and have a look in my locker, see if theres any runs in there!!
Just as Carrick 1st team made their opponents very welcome at home in the ISC, I would like to thank the Carrick 2nd squad for their time, by staying behind after our Junior-Cup match at home in Lurgan.
Despite the late'ish finish to the game and the long drive back home, most of the guys that could, stayed on for a meal and a bit of craic afterwards.
Much appreciated lads and good luck for the rest of the competition!
Park-ranger... Don't think you can just lift the phone and get urself a game at our club, when it suits !!!
Those days are thankfully over,so get yourself down to practise on a Monday nite and lets see what you have in 'the locker'.... if anything !!!!!!
And South Africa Reserves beat South Africa Firsts yesterday I see.
I was walking through the Park yesterday, and saw that beautiful sunshine and thought I might give Mr Mullin a ring and see if I could get a game in the 3rd team
