Gary. Rumours that mark hutchinson could be coming to waringstown but i would think it would be unlikely!
Any NCU rumours at this early point of the 2009 post season?
Shhhhh. Don't tell those of us who couldn't make it to the AGM what was passed and what wasn't
Not much change
All I know chaps it needs to be an absolute belting wicket/surface/pitch/playing area for me to get any runs!
The best I played on this year was Saintfield without a doubt
Thought Mr. McCarter would know the less than subtle difference between "wicket" & "pitch" by now!! Well spotted Michael!!!
Ryan McCarter, don't let PLO'H hear you talking about the wicket as a surface. I think you mean the pitch?
There is no doubt that the "2 up/2 down" scenario creates more interest - especially down the leagues where sides aren't involved in ISC, Clubturf, Ulster Shield, etc. A couple of wins or losses and teams can be sucked into promotion/relegation situations.
If all the clubs in the Union were as progressive and ambitious as Dundrum cricket here would be on a sound footing.
A cricket wicket is a unique surface that even the top groundsmen in the world dont always get right never mind volunteers working against the weather with what is often substandard machinery so the "observers" comments are uneducated at best.
On the NCU A.G.M - I personally feel 10 team leagues is the best way to continue going forward, league competition is the bread and butter of any sport and any move to cut leagues down is an elitist one, in my personal view.
I was at my first N.C.U. A.G.M. on Tues evening past and saw at first hand, the many dedicated and hard working professional people that run and drive our cricket union forward.
I would just like to use the forum to commend all the Union representives and office holders within the N.C.U. and although I am only a very small cog in an otherwise big machine on behalf of Victoria C.C. may I say Thank-You all.
Caleb Boomer Victoria C.C.
re observor . it was YOU SAID DUNDRUM WAS UNSUITABLE FOR CRICKET and i will never accept your opinion on that unless you explain when you played here and what was the problem and then if you dont hide behind observor ill try too answer your ? but ill tell you this ive known lots players in all NCU CLUBS and most would agree that SHOT SELECTION gets most wickets not the dream ball or bowler or the pitch . but ill tell u just in case my last post didnt get past the censor dundrum did vote TWICE for reduced leagues off 8 (not my decision)as i stand by my opinion and put my name with it right or wrong , good night
CASE CLOSED
Fair enough Rodney I didnt realise this though I do think that clubs are judged more harshly (and probably rightly so?) on there ground if there a lot of money leaving the club in pros pocket
Observer,
Why do you come onto this forum and slag off over clubs resources? We, in Dundrum, own our ground and work hard to maintain it. How many other clubs can say that? We have regular meetings to help move our club forward and we don't appreciate 'unidentifable' observers coming on and making comments about us! Yet again today, we received another backward step in Dundrum when I received yet another letter refusing us lottery money to help us in our quest to make Dundrum a better place to play cricket. So your comments are particularly unwelcome at the moment.
Our second XI easily fulfilled all their games this season - a first for a number of years, so your comments regarding the suitability of our ground for cricket is codswallop. Maybe you're a batsman and find it hard to play on bowlers wickets, if so, come to Dundrum more often and practise there - you might improve your game a little. Finally, The Shimna River is in Newcastle, the Moneycarragh is in Dundrum and it causes problems when a lot of rain falls. Mainly because the water service have had problems keeping the water in the river and not able to prevent it from bursting it's banks and flooding not only our ground but surrounding farmland. One more thing, you got my name, you may see me play next season, so please introduce yourself........
RE: John
John unfortunately the PRO fund is a seperate fund that is not available for the club to spend so as much as I'd like to spend it on wickets...we can't for reasons I don't want to discuss here.
RE: Jeff & Rodney:
Last posting on this one...and yes sorry for playing the anoniminity card.
Apologies if you feel I have insulted you or your Club...not intended...!
I more than respect your ground and your club.
Just feel you both donned the blinkers when you felt the place was under attack (which it wasn't) you have both greatly missed the point...!
Good luck next year...
would this be the same "observer" that attacked my club during the season??? seems your making a habit of this sooner the anominity is removed here the better grow some cohunes and publish your name as jeff said opinions are like a**eholes everyone has one
